Statewide Trends in Vitamin D Testing Oregon, 2016–2019

This report, Better Health for Oregonians, is based on the Milliman MedInsight Health Waste Calculator (Calculator). It builds upon efforts already underway in Oregon and Washington focused on overuse of health services, and offers an opportunity to begin examining where and how we can promote more effective, affordable care for our patients.

This guideline was developed in collaboration with payers and health system leaders, and is based on the best available clinical evidence and consensus of expert opinion.

Reducing unnecessary pre-op testing presents an opportunity to significantly reduce health care spending and improve the quality of care delivered to Oregonians.

The goal of this project is to develop Oregon-specific, open source, claims-based measures of low-value care that can be used for multiple purposes and provide transparency and flexibility.
